UHDA Executive Committee Members Meets with Nairobi City County Governor

On 21st September 2015 the Executive Committee members led by Mr. Sam Ncheeri met with NCC Governor, Dr. Evans Kidero at his City Hall chambers. This marked a significant moment in the working relationship between UHDA and NCC.
The UHDA EC members presented several developmental issues which we wanted NCC to address:
Water is a major concern especially since Upperhill is a financial hub. Water shortages has led to several properties to use borehole water. In addition there are frequent sewer system outbursts. NCC noted the concern and promised that the issue of sewerage and water would be addressed. He informed that water supply was mainly affected by road construction in addition to inadequate water provision in the County. The situation was however expected to improve with the commissioning of the Gigiri pumping station phase II before the end of the year.
On the issue of delayed roads project in Upperhill, the Governor informed it was occasioned by many parameters such as relocation of services, lack of adequate road corridors and budget allocation. It noted however that the works were soon going to be completed by early next year.
Beautification of road reserved was discussed at length with NCC officers agreeing to liaise with UHDA to identify areas that require beautification and commence discussions on the same.
Other issues such as lack of pedestrian walkways, traffic management, unclogging of drains and mushrooming of kiosks were also discussed with NCC promising input on their part.
